April Weliever, M.D.

Family Medicine

April Weliever, M.D., MSW is originally from Tampa, Florida.  She attended undergraduate school at Florida College, the University of South Florida and graduate school at Florida State University completing her studies in social work.  After spending 10 years working as a social worker with the Hillsborough County Public Schools she chose to pursue her education as a physician.

She attended medical school at Ross University in Dominica, West Indies and completed her residency at Louisiana State University where she served as chief resident in the Family Medicine program.  She is Board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Weliever has been practicing Family Medicine in Citrus County for 2 years and is very excited to be joining Nature Coast Health Care.

Dr. Weliever resides in Homosassa, Florida.  She has been married to Kenny Weliever for 20 years and they have two children, ages six and four.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, outdoor activities, reading and traveling.

Antoinette Frussinetty

Nurse Practitioner-DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, RN-BC

Antoinette Frussinetty, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, RN-BC is a board certified Nurse Practitioner who relocated from NYC to Citrus County in 2016. She has three degrees in Nursing which she obtained from Pace University in Manhattan, NY. She received her Bachelor of Science degree (BSN) in Nursing in 2005, her Master of Science (MSN) degree in Nursing in 2009 and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree in 2015. She also has two American Nursing Credentialling Center (ANCC) Board Certifications; one as a Medical Surgical Nurse and the other as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has been practicing as a Registered Nurse since 2005 and as a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2010. She is a member of the American Nurses Association. Dr. Frussinetty is married with one daughter and lives in Citrus County.

Ashley Thomas, FNP

Family Nurse Practitioner

Ashley Thomas is an experienced Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with a strong background in critical care and a deep commitment to chronic disease management. She began her nursing career in 2010 as an ICU nurse in The Villages, Florida, caring for elderly patients with complex, life-threatening conditions. Ashley earned her Master’s degree in Family Nursing from Frontier Nursing University in 2015.

She then transitioned into internal medicine, where she found her calling in helping patients manage long-term health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and COPD. In 2017, Ashley joined Nature Coast Health Care after relocating to Citrus County. Over the past eight years, she has become a trusted provider within the community, known for her patient-centered approach, clinical expertise, and dedication to improving her patients’ quality of life. Ashley is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP), with graduation expected in December 2025. Her doctoral studies focus on improving chronic disease care delivery and advancing health equity in underserved populations. Outside of the clinic, Ashley enjoys spending time with her family, exploring the natural beauty of Florida’s Nature Coast, and staying active in the community.

Christian Lopez, MD

Medical Doctor

Dr. Christian Lopez, MD, is a Primary Care Physician who relocated from New Jersey to Citrus County. He previously worked as a Professor of Human Anatomy & Physiology and Biology at Kean University and Middlesex College in New Jersey, as well as at Interamerican University in Puerto Rico. In addition, he holds a medical license as a practitioner of General Medicine from Puerto Rico.

Janet Slawinski, FNP

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Janet is a Nurse Practitioner who has proudly served patients at Nature Coast Health Care for the past 9 years. With more than 30 years of healthcare experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and dedication to every patient encounter. Her journey began as a Home Health Aide while raising her children, which inspired her lifelong calling to care for others. She went on to earn her nursing degree in 1993 from SUNY Stony Brook, later becoming CCRN certified and gaining valuable experience working in a Level 1 trauma hospital. When she advanced her career as a Nurse Practitioner, Janet transitioned to the private practice settings where she could focus on building strong, lasting relationships with her patients. At Nature Coast, Janet values the ability to care for the whole person—not just the disease.She emphasizes honesty, compassion, and a holistic approach that addresses the physical, social, and psychological needs of her patients. She considers it a privilege and honor to be trusted with their care.

Joseph McNerney, DO

Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine

Dr McNerney, DO is an experienced board-certified osteopathic physician. He is an experienced medical educator. He is the past president of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. He is also a Distinguished Fellow of the college. Dr. McNerney is an Emeritus Chairman of the American Board of Osteopathic Family Physicians. This Board certifies all Osteopathic Family Physicians in the United States.

Dr. McNerney practiced Family Medicine for 20 years in rural Iowa before becoming the Clinical Dean of The Touro University College Of Osteopathic Medicine in California. He later assumed the role of Director of Medical Education of the Osteopathic Division of St. John Providence Health System, a large health system in and around Detroit Michigan. In both these roles Dr. McNerney established multiple new residency training programs and new clinical rotations for medical students.

Dr. McNerney moved to Florida in 2014 and has practiced in this area since that time. Dr. McNerney was also Board Certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine in 1988.

Ken Savage, DO

Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine

Kenneth L. Savage Jr. D.O. is a Citrus County native. He comes from a long line of doctors including his grandfather, who practiced Family Medicine, and his father, who founded Citrus Cardiology 40 years ago.

Shannon Whitehead

Nurse Practitioner- APRN, FNP-C

Shannon Whitehead is a Family Nurse Practitioner who brings more than a decade of nursing experience to Nature Coast Health Care. She began her career as an LPN, later advancing to RN, and for the past 4+ years, she has practiced as a Nurse Practitioner. She earned her nursing education at Chamberlain College and has experience across managed care, family medicine, well-woman exams, and emergency medicine.Shannon’s approach to care is rooted in compassion and respect. She treats every patient as she would a family member and is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centeredcare. Her goal is to make a positive difference in each patient’s life through thoughtful, individualized treatment.Outside of the clinic, Shannon is a proud mother of three boys and enjoys spending her free time in family-centered activities.Fun Fact: Shannon admits she’s not a fan of spiders — she jokes that she’d rather move out and let the spider pay rent than share her home with one!

Roger Danclar, MD

Medical Doctor

Dr. Roger Danclar is a board-certified physician with more than 36 years of experience in Primary Care and Internal Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, New York. Throughout his career, Dr. Danclar has been dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate care to patients of all ages. His philosophy of care is rooted in empathy, active listening, and the belief that healing occurs on physical, psychological, and spiritual levels. He takes the time to understand each patient’s concerns and works to uncover the root cause of their health challenges. In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Danclar is a Christian and ministry leader who teaches the doctrines of Jesus Christ. He also believes in the power of humor as a tool to break down barriers and foster strong, trusting relationships with his patients.

Jeanny Catapia

Nurse Practitioner MSN, APRN, FNP-C, FNP-BC, CMSRN

Jeanny Catapia is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 25 years of nursing experience and a strong foundation across multiple clinical specialties. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines, and later completed her Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner in the United States. Jeanny is dual-certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by both the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She is also a Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) and maintains active BLS andACLS certifications.

Her nursing career began in 1998 and has spanned diverse specialties, including Pulmonary/Medical ICU, Med-Surgical, Orthopedic PCU, Neuro-Surgical, Pediatrics, and Urology. Since earning her Nurse Practitioner degree in 2022, Jeanny has been practicing in primary care, where she enjoys building long-term patient relationships. Jeanny employs a holistic, evidence-based approach to care, with individualized treatment plans designed to meet each patient’s unique needs. She believes in precision, compassion, and treating the whole person rather than just the condition. Outside of the clinic, Jeanny enjoys recycling, planting, and biking. She is fluent in English and Filipino (Tagalog). Fun Fact: Jeanny has a fascination with exploring and learning about different cultures.

Jeannette Garzon— Chief Operating Officer

Rn, BSN

Jeannette Garzon is the Chief Operating Officer at Nature Coast Health Care, bringing more than 20 years of experience in both clinical care and healthcare operations. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida Atlantic University in 2001 and began her career in NICU and Pediatrics. She later served on the Nurse Advisory Board for Mead Johnson for 10 years. In addition to her nursing degree, Jeannette holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Southern New Hampshire University. Over her career, she transitioned from bedside nursing into out patient care, where she discovered her passion for practice operations and value-based healthcare delivery. She has worked with some of the largest value-based healthcare groups in Florida, focusing on solving problems at the root cause to optimize both efficiency and patient outcomes. As COO, Jeannette combines her clinical background with operational expertise to ensure providers and staff deliver the highest quality care. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with her daughter in Los Angeles. Fun Fact: after nine months of training, Jeannette successfully ran her very first marathon— an accomplishment that reflects her discipline, dedication, and perseverance.

Shellby Rhae Gilson, Nurse Case Manager

Shellby Rhae Gilson is a Licensed Practical Nurse with more than 7 years of experience in Hematology/Oncology and over a year in Primary Care. In addition to her clinical work, she serves in a leadership role at Nature Coast Health Care, where she helps over see clinical operations. She is a graduate of Rasmussen University, IV Certified, and trained in Mental Health First Aid. Outside of her leadership role, Shellby enjoys hiking, baking, and spending time with friends and family. Fun Fact: Shellby is a proud dog mom to her four-legged side kick, Amos.
